So. Many. Upcoming. Events!

There are a ton of events coming up that I’m excited about! Some I’m leading or participating in. Others, I’m just looking forward to showing up and learning.

I hope you’ll be interested and available to join me at one of these!

May 18: Website Accessibility for Nonprofits

I’ll be giving a free talk for Seattle nonprofits as part of the 501 Commons Talks Tech series. The 90-minute talk is quite engaging and immediately applicable to any website.

Building Better Websites with Web Accessibility
May 18, 2017. 12:00-1:30pm
Pacific Tower
Panoramic Center, 8th Floor
1200 12th Avenue South
Seattle, WA 98144

The last time I gave this presentation, attendees didn’t know what to expect and left with some eye-opening knowledge and excitement about improving their sites.

(For anyone unfamiliar with the venue, come for the incredible view of Seattle, stay for the talk.)

June 7: Nonprofit Communicators Happy Hour

I was invited to come chat about website accessibility with Seattle-area nonprofit communications staff at an invite-only happy hour meetup. If you work for a nonprofit and do communications and marketing (and fixing the printer, obviously), then get in touch and I’ll get you an invite!

June 12: NTEN Anatomy of a Website Redesign Online Course

I’ll be working with NTEN to offer this exciting course again! This paid online class—made up of readings, an online class, and homework with personal feedback—is an incredible value for people in the early phases of getting ready to redesign their website. It also counts toward the Nonprofit Technology Professional Certificate and as Certified Fund Raising Executive® credits.

Since this is an online course, you also don’t need to be in Seattle to join me!

September 23: Accessibility Camp Seattle

After a multi-year hiatus, I just learned that Accessibility Camp Seattle will be back at the Seattle Central Public Library in September. I hope to attend and keep learning more about accessibility so I can continue being an advocate for it.

November 4-5: WordCamp Seattle

WordCamp Seattle will be back and better than ever later this year in Seattle. We’ll be at the same venue as last year right in downtown Seattle that people really liked.

I’m working with Nichole Betterley to recruit and organize all the speakers for the camp. We’re starting twice as early this year as in the past and already seeing good results.

Speaker applications are currently open, while volunteer signup and tickets sales will open later this year.

As always, Seattle is an astonishingly cheap, high-value conference that you really shouldn’t miss if you use WordPress. It’s a wonderful chance to meet the WordPress community and get better at managing your site!
