Communities Rise was born when two wonderful MRW Web Design clients—Wayfind and the Nonprofit Assistance Center—joined forces. Both organizations already supported nonprofit organizations in the greater Seattle area, particularly those led by and for communities of color. By coming together, the new organization will “foster movements to build power in communities impacted by systemic oppression.”
Following the creation of the new name and brand design by Pyramid Communications, MRW Web Design quickly created a heavily customized WordPress theme design in time for the name reveal event. This website came together to facilitate dynamic communications for a dynamic organization.
Throughout the site, bold use of the color palette and connected line motif showcases the work of Communities Rise in supporting and building vibrant communities and organizations. The animated “sticky header” keeps the menu available while browsing the site and was specifically requested by Communities Rise staff.
Using the WordPress Block Editor, site editors can add background colors as well as the unending line motif as both a watermark and photograph overlay. This one simple custom design feature has led to the creation of beautiful and unique page layouts.
With clear and frequent communication, this website was built in a collaborative and ongoing manner. As the organization continues to grow and evolve, the site’s design, page organization, and additional advanced features will continue to grow with it.
Most importantly, supporting the needs of site visitors to gain access to the services offered by Communities Rise will always drive collaborative decision making for the site.
