New 501 Commons Landing Page

A newer version of this site launched in May 2016. Read about the “refresh” I gave this design.

501 Commons selected MRW Web Design out of five proposals because of my previous experience working on larger information-rich websites, such as Grinnell College’s, and a web-focused design background.

Over a series of meeting, I worked with 501 Commons to organize their huge existing website and develop a visual language to showcase their Services, Resources, Volunteer Opportunities, and the unique “Five Elements of a Healthy Nonprofit” assessment available on their website. The result was a design with vibrant colors and iconography to help visitors easily engage with the website.

With so much valuable content on their website, I had to show a large amount of information without it appearing cluttered and developed a tiled display that allows visitors to see their choices at a glance.

And 501 Commons was happy with the result. Executive Director Nancy Long says:

“Your design worked beautifully! I sing your praises every chance I get.”

After the design was completed, the site was implemented on the Plone CMS platform by NPower NW, which now is a part of 501 Commons.
